Literally just finished this one. It’s a tweaked version of a piece I did a couple years ago. It’s always frustrating to go back to something you’ve moved on from, but it was a worthy learning experience.
This is from January of 2011. I did it for Pascal’s Pals, they do a charity auction each year and asked me to be a part of it. This was part of my self-timer phase, lots of trial and error to eventually come up with a photo I could work from. It’s watercolor, coffee, and graphite on canvas.
In this one, I went totally crazy with the palette knife and had the best time. Except when it came to her face, that took so many hours, tears, screams, out of me. I could not get it right, until one day it clicked. Mostly, I like her feet.
So, I have these really talented musician friends from Philadelphia. They asked me to do a cover for their next album, and this is what I came up with. The album is called Circe. They’re called Penrose.
